The Poughkeepsie Journal reports today that Richard Sassi, Jr. has filed a new lawsuit against the City of Beacon for promoting another officer over Sassi for a detective position that opened up last year. The lawsuit brings into question the legality of the City's nepotism law, which a judge earlier this year stated was likely to be illegal. But the judge in this case also stated that, as the detective position did not require a civil service exam, it was questionable whether it could be considered a promotion or simply a lateral move.
It's time both Sassi's stopped their sniveling, whining and complaining and either get back to the work of policing Beacon or get the hell out. This is our police department, not their's to do with what they please. This is our tax money being wasted in the defense of frivolous and baseless lawsuits & though Braun is a largely in-effective administrator, the City Council directs these types of decisions for Braun to execute.
WHEN THE HELL IS THE SASSI FAMILY GOING TO STOP HOLDING THE SAFETY OF BEACON'S RESIDENTS HOSTAGE FOR THE SAKE OF POLITICS!!!!!!!!!!!

It is truly disappointing that these few police officers seem to forget they are paid by the people of Beacon in order to protect the people of Beacon - instead, they prefer to waste the city of Beacon's taxpayer dollars on this nonsense. What an embarrasment, all around - seems waaaaay too much ego involved here, on the part of the Sassi's and the City Administrator. I'm betting if the Administrator post was a voted position, things would be changed. All around, there are no winners here- just us loser taxpayers. Have the parties involved no shame at all ? Apprently their own self-worth is all that matters - even though they are all paid to serve the interests of the people of Beacon - who pay their salaries.
