Anyone thinking of moving to Beacon should check out the local Department of Motor Vehicles. It might be the single best reason to move upstate. Today I went in to re-new my registration and change my address on my driver's license. I was prepared for the typical half-day ordeal I've encountered in every other DMV I've ever visited. As you can see below, when I got there, the office was virtually empty, and I was able to see a clerk right away. I was done in less than 5 minutes. Amazing. I love this town.
Michael my friend. The best kept secrets are best kept secret!
Where did you say this was? the NEWBURGH DMV? That's what I thought you said. I KNOW it's the NEWBURGH DMV.
Beacon, to my knowledge, doesn't have a DMV...

Beacon definitely has a DMV and even though more people have moved to Beacon over the past 10 yrs I have lived here... the DMV has never been more than 30 minutes.
Now, I'm a Brooklyn girl, so those I see griping about waiting a "whole 20-30mins" have never been #397 at a city DMV where there are currently helping #17 (those were actually #s at my last visit in NYC & at that was 9:30am)
